Wanda Riedel Sdao ‘s pottery is inspired by her joy for life.
My interest in art started at an early age. I was influenced by my grandmother, who painted landscapes with oil paints on canvas. I began formal art lessons for drawing and oil painting in junior high school.
I graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) with a Bachelor degree in art and elementary education and UTSA with a Master of Arts degree in education. I taught language arts at the elementary level for thirty years. As opportunities arose I would use my art background in the classroom.
After I retired from teaching, I knew I wanted to rekindle my interest in art. I met Albert Goldreich, an accomplished potter, at an Empty Bowls event in Fort Bend County. I started taking pottery lessons from Albert and have continued working with him for the past few years. I enjoy making hand built pottery. All my pieces are one-of-a-kind.
